Voxelbloom

Generate, sculpt, surface and bake voxel worlds inside Unity.

Voxelbloom is a modular Unity voxel-terrain toolkit built around interchangeable world layouts, generators, meshers and surfacers. Its current codebase supports chunked terrain workflows across Cartesian worlds and spherical planets.

An idea under exploration. Scope and timing are undecided.

Is it a fit?

A starting point for your project.

For Unity developers exploring smooth terrain, block worlds, biome-driven generation or editable voxel planets. The current repository documents working development systems, but it is not presented here as a packaged or supported release.

Concept — not available

Before you plan around it
Concept — not available. Working systems exist in source, but release packaging, supported Unity and render-pipeline configurations, performance targets, licensing, price and distribution have not been validated.

Current development scope

One pipeline, several kinds of voxel world.

These capabilities are supported by the current project source and technical documentation. Final product scope may be narrower.

Smooth terrain & block worlds

Generate signed-density terrain for Marching Cubes meshes, or catalog-driven block terrain with optional greedy meshing and material submeshes.

Biomes & surface systems

Blend biome weights and heights into terrain, caves, block layers and materials. Triplanar and block surfacers connect generated geometry to texture arrays and per-chunk material data.

Sculpting, planets & baking

Edit density, blocks and biomes with scene tools; build Cartesian, cube-sphere or octa-sphere worlds; then preserve edits and bake chunk meshes for reuse.

Scope & compatibility.

Review the intended installation and the evidence still needed before release.

Architecture & authoring workflow

A VoxelObject coordinates regions and chunks through a generator → mesher → surfacer pipeline. Editor tools expose generation, dirty rebuilds, sculpting, biome painting, erosion, bake operations and cell-level debugging.

Current implementation boundaries

Verified mesh paths are Marching Cubes and block meshing. Some alternate generators are unfinished; Dual Contouring, Surface Nets, Heightfield, navigation, water and an end-to-end runtime persistence service are not active implementations in the audited source.

Compatibility & release work

The repository currently records Unity 6000.5.0f1 and includes both URP and HDRP packages, but active render-pipeline support still needs clarification. Clean installation, builds, performance, samples and final package dependencies require release validation.

Product evidence

What is verified today.

The current Unity project and source-backed technical documentation verify the pipeline, density and block generation, Marching Cubes and greedy block meshing, biome systems, scene-view editing, planet tilers, edit-data assets and mesh baking. Public demonstrations, benchmarks and clean-project installation evidence are not yet included in this preview.

A future standalone asset

Voxelbloom is being presented as its own Unity asset rather than an AetherFramework Solution. License contents, package dependencies, distribution channel, price, support terms and release date are not published.

Separately scoped services

Need voxel-world engineering?

A project-specific terrain workflow, generator, surfacing setup or editor tool can be assessed as custom engineering. That work would be scoped separately from any future Voxelbloom license.

Software licensing and project implementation are separate offers. Product-based setup and integration depend on a verified release and supported configuration; a concept page does not establish availability.

Assisted Setup

Your project fits a supported configuration and you need help getting started.

What you receive

Project preflight, installation, supported provider configuration, a checked reference flow and handoff notes.

Scope & engagement

Custom UI, data migration, unsupported providers and major architecture changes need a separate scope.

Fixed scope once the setup checklist confirms the fit.

Discuss setup

Production Integration

You need a supported product adapted to your existing game and its systems.

What you receive

Discovery, an integration plan, agreed project changes, provider and data integration, testing and handoff.

Scope & engagement

New provider adapters, broad redesigns and unrelated features are scoped separately.

Fixed scope for verified configurations. Uncertain work starts with paid discovery, then agreed milestones or time and materials.

Discuss integration

Custom Engineering

You need custom Unity UI, a new adapter, a migration or behavior beyond an existing product's scope.

What you receive

Agreed project-specific implementation, documentation and tests, with architectural work where needed.

Scope & engagement

The written scope defines what is included. New requirements are agreed before adding work.

Milestones or time and materials, with written change control.

Discuss custom work

How working together works.

  1. Start with a conversation

Describe the outcome you need. A short free fit call establishes whether the work is a fit; detailed investigation belongs in discovery.

  2. Define the work

Where the requirements are uncertain, paid discovery produces findings, risks and a recommended path. Before delivery, we agree on inputs, deliverables, exclusions and acceptance checks.

  3. Build, test and hand over

I deliver against the agreed scope and hand over documentation, test results and known limitations. Ongoing support is a separate agreement.
